EVANS DIED LAST WEDNESDAY Mrs. O.P. Evans, for more than fifty years a well-known resident of Empire township, died at her home four miles north of this city Wednesday morning at the age of 76 years. Mary M. (sic) Chapman was born March 23, 1846, in London, Madison county, Ohio, the daughter of James and Mary Chapman. She was one of nine children, all of whom are now deceased. She received her education in the city schools of London, finishing the London Academy. In 1862 she moved to Illinois, where in March 4, 1864, she was married to Oliver Evans. In 1866 she united with the Baptist church of Old Town Timber, and remain- ed a devoted Christian to the time of her death. To this union were born four children namely: Harry, who died at the age of 16: J.W., now at home, Mrs. H. Amstadt, of LeRoy and Mrs. Nelllie Cosby, also of LeRoy. She is also survived by six grandchildren. The funeral will be held this (Friday) afternoon at the Christian church, conducted by Rev. Edwin Wyle. LeRoy (IL) Journal, Friday, 16 Sep 1921.
