File Submitted by: Gail Hahn Hutchcraft; email: ladybuggc@sbcglobal.net *********************************************************************************** BEECHER, WILLIAM AUGUST William August Nuess Beecher was born in Tellingstedt, Germany on 4-17-1852, son of Mr. and Mrs. Johann Beecher. He came to America at the age of 20, to Danvers, Il, later he settled in Anchor Twp. He was a prominent resident of the Anchor community for 72 years. He was one of the 24 charter members of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor, Il, which was organized in 1877. William August Beecher died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lambert Brethorst in Colfax, Monday 1-29-1945 at the age of 92 years. On 1-2-1873 Mr. Beecher was married to Miss Anna Stroh in the Lutheran Church of Bloomington, Il. Eleven children were born to this union. His wife preceded him in death on 1-2-1903, also two sons, Henry and August. On 1-31-1905 he was married to Mrs. Wilhemina Bielfeldt who died on 3-13-1923. He is survived by nine children, William Jr., Anchor; Mrs. Augusta Brethorst, Colfax; Louis, Mrs. Emma Henricks, Anchor; Edward, Colfax; Adolph, Okarche, OK; Herman, Colfax; Mrs. Anna Lage, Anchor; Mrs. Louise Lorig, Truman MN. 40 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral service was Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, at Anchor with Rev. H. Harms officiating. Mrs. Caroline Landau and Mrs. Mary Bielfeldt sang and accompanied Miss Velma Hall.
