She was baptized and received religious instruction in early childhood, and was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of her birthplace. When 21 years of age she came to the United States and was united in marriage to William Beecher by Rev. Mangeladorf on 1-3-1873. They moved to this neighborhood 13 years ago. They were blessed with eleven children - seven sons and four daughters. The oldest, a son, died when six years of age. Mrs. Beecher was a true wife, a loving mother and a faithful member of the Lutheran Church. She had been in poor healath for several years, but tried to fulfill her duties until her last days. Her last Christmas celebration with her family gave her much pleasure. On Christmas Day she went with her husband and children to church and was glad to celebrate the Lords' Supper with them. On Saturday after Christmas she was attacked by a violent sickness. All was done for her that human hands could do, but she grew worse rapidly and 1-2-1903, the Lord whom she loved called her to her eternal home. Her age was 50 years, 10 months and 26 days. May she rest in peace and the eternal light shine around her.
