Coordinator **************************************************************************** SHELTON SMITH Biography SHELTON SMITH, farming and stock-raising, Sec. 19; P.O. Lexington; one of the pioneers of Lawndale Township; came, with his father, from Switzerland Co., Ind., in the fall of 1834, being but nine years of age; he has since resided in the township; was Justice of the Peace previous to township organization; assisted in the organization of the township, and has been Supervisor for seven years; and also the first Township Collector. John Smith, father of the subject of this sketch, came from Maryland, and died upon the farm now owned by Shelton Smith, in the 77th year of his age. Mr. Smith now owns 560 acres of land, all of which is under good state of cultivation. There never has been a lien or mortage on the land.
