He was married to Miss Margaret Rasmussen at Heide, Holstein, and in 1873, with his wife and two children he came to America, settling near Anchor, Ill. After some years of farming he bought a farm in that neighborhood, on which they lived ever since, with the exception of about two years when they lived in Bloomington. He was a member of St. John's Church since its organization in 1879. Mr. Stroh enjoyed the best of health until 1905, when a severe attack of typhoid fever impaired his strengh, which he never fully regained. He was able to be up and about most of the time until the last few months, during which heart trouble caused him much suffering. He passed peacefully away on Friday, 3-8-1918, at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 19 days. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Mrs. Margaret Stroh; three sons, Andrew of Sibley, John of Anchor, and Gustav of Anchor; four daughters, Mrs. Fred Thompson, Mrs. Henry Schuldt, Mrs. Otto Hardies and Mrs. John Stuhmer; two brothers, R.H. Stroh of Gibson City and Andrew Stroh of American Falls, Idaho; 26 grand- children and many other relatives and friends. The funeral was held on Tuesday March 12 at the home and at St. John's Church.
