File Submitted by: Ortiz ************************************************************** LEVI JOHNSON'S ROAD. (Peoria, Bloomington and Pekin Interurban Railway) The past week incorporation papers of the proposed Bloomington-Peoria interurban line were filed with the county recorder in Bloomington. This is the electric line that our townsman, Levi Johnston, has been fathering for some time past, and this indication of its immediate building is highly satisfactory to all. The incorporation papers state that the road is to be known as the Peoria, Bloomington and Pekin Interurban Railway of Illinois and will be built from Peoria through Tazewell and McLean counties to Bloomington. The capital stock is $100,000, divided into ten shares. The incorporators are as follows: Levi Johnston, Danvers, Ill., F.E. Seagrave, Toledo, Ohio, Jesse Black, Jr., Pekin, Ill., D. S. Brown, Peoria, Ill., E. H. Roberts, Washington, Ill., W. E. Lantz, Pekin, Ill., W. A. Pekin, Pekin, Ill. The board of directors is as follows: Levi Johnson, P. E. Seagrave, D. S. Brown, Jesse Black Jr., and W. E. Lantz. The proposed line is now being surveyed and the right of way secured. The city of Pekin has, after appropriating the $5,000 forfeit, extended the franchise formerly granted and franchises have been secured in the following towns along the right of way, Tremont, Mackinaw and Danvers. Danvers citizens are deeply interested in the building of this line. Not alone that the project is being pushed by our rugged fellow townsman is it subject of interest to our citizens, but that the line will be run through our town, furnishing transportation facilities which our citizens crave, is a matter of certainty.
