File Submitted by: Ortiz Source: The Dispatch, Danvers, IL ************************************************************** Thursday afternoon Mrs. J. W. Vance gave an exceptionally unique and delightful ladies' party, which was more than ordinarily interesting; being, as it was intellectually stimulating, thereby enhancing the pleasure of the event. The hostess had previously asked her guests to bring any curios, relics or heirlooms in their possession and a number of interesting and historical things were displayed. In this, Mrs. Ed. Skaggs captured the prize for the most interesting contribution, showing a genealogy of the Vance family, covering a period of years from 1744 to 1905. Miss Kate Funk was awarded the prize for the best told story, a number of bright and catchy things contributing to this part of the afternoon's entertainment. American beauty roses constituted the prize in both instances. The hostess is pronounced a charming entertainer and the affair of Thursday adds more laurels to her distinctive hospitality.
